Learning Styles

I believe I am a combination of a visual and kinesthetic styled learner. I learn by watching something being done and then applying what I've seen. I do love to read and follow directions although if there are no pictures the directions can be like a foreing language to me.

I really enjoyed the information provided on Grokker and the map view was phenomenal! I loved it! I gives a whole new view to searching on the web.

I believe Learn 2.0 is working with my learning preference because it is hands-on and very visual. Although I sometimes feel like a technological dinosaur, I do believe I am coming out of the dark ages and I see a light at the end of the tunnel.

As you can see my own blog was one of the ones that came up! I am wondering why that is so. I claimed my blog on technorati as my own. Claiming your blog establishes that you are its owner, and allows you to use Technorati services to increase your blog's visibility. I created a profile on Technorati and even added my Yahoo! Avatar!!! I am learning so much yet, sometimes I feel as though I am just stumbling upon the right or correct way of doing things and not yet understanding why and how it works!

I also searched for Library, Librarian, Luis Miguel and Aishwarya Rai. It was and excellent learning experience for me. It is nice to know I can go to Technorati, do a search and get all the blog info available on that subject.

I was born on May 5th or Cinco de Mayo in Spanish.

Not until I moved to Florida did I realize that it was such a special day.

Most Mexicans do not celebrate Cinco de Mayo.

For the people of Puebla, Mexico it is an important day, however, the rest of Mexico views it as any other day.

Most Mexican Restaurants in the South and Southwest of the USA have embraced Cinco de Mayo as their own holiday.

There are huge celebrations beginning early in the day and running until late at night.

They offer drink specials, special food selections and sometimes even Mariachi bands.

I am honored to have been born on such a wonderful day.

Everyone celebrates my birthday in a joyous and wonderful way.

Que Viva MEXICO!!!!

About Cinco de Mayo
Cinco de Mayo is celebrated on the 5th of May. Contrary to what many people believe, Cinco de Mayo is not Mexico's independence day from Spain. Rather, it's a remembrance of a David and Goliath-like fight. In 1862, as the French invasion of Mexico began, Mexican General Ignacio Zaragoza's force of 4,000 soldiers defeated twice as many French soldiers in the Battle of Puebla. The French occupation would continue until 1866. But the Mexican soldiers' courage and determination inspired Mexican Americans. Even back then, historians say, California's Mexican Americans celebrated the win. Later, in the 1960s and 1970s, Chicanos involved in the civil rights movement related the Cinco de Mayo story to their quest for respect in the United States. They identified with the Mexican Indian and mestizo (people of Mexican Indian and European descent) soldiers' triumph over European conquest attempts. Chicano activists publicized it and made it a popular holiday in the United States. Today, it's become much like St. Patrick's Day. You don't have to be Mexican to celebrate it.
